DIAGNOSTICS
It is not sufficient to know that veins are sick. In
case of varicose veins, the patient understands this by himself/herself.
To treat correctly, it is necessary to know when, why and how the veins
don't work correctly.
Generally an informal talk between specialist and patient can reveal the
origin of the illness. What must be instead clarified with absolute accuracy
is the therapeutic council, that can be medical, physical, surgical, sclerosis
or composed by a whole of various methods further described. To define
the correct program, it is necessary to execute a not invasive diagnosis
composed by the following investigations:
- Doppler (ultra-sounds) allows to listen to the flux of the blood and
recognizes its direction in condition of rest or movement and can be utilized
for the measurement of the indexes of venous pressure.
- Echography (ultra-sounds) allows to see the anatomic structure of the
tissues and shows evident alterations.
- Echo-Doppler (ultra-sounds) able to examine the shape and the components
of the veins, their initial and advanced alterations and to observe the
behavior of the blood flux. Today to make easy, rapid and precise the
examination there is the echo-color-Doppler (ultra-sounds) that adds the
color to the other two signals and is particularly indicated for the study
of the very little and profound blood vessels. Today thanks to new research
achieved in this field, it is possible to measure the exact value of the
blood pressure of the vessels and evaluate the gravity of the illness.
In the dubious cases, where it is possible to meet skeleton or muscular
alterations, pletimografia (infrared) is a particularly indicative examination.
It can study the capability of mussels and veins of moving certain amounts
of blood and above all it can be attribute a number to the venous stasis,
main cause of the severe damages of the peripheral tissues. In the more
serious situations it is necessary to carry out other examinations such
as injection of radio-opaque substances, as phlebography, that consists
in the radiological observation of the veins. Other examinations are the
digital phlebography, T.A.C or N.M.R. (nuclear magnetic resonance).
Some time ago vein diseases were treated only on the basis of the doctor's
experience. Now a doctor must behave like a person who has to reach an
unknown place. If he wants to arrive soon and safely, he must consult
a detailed road map. It is in fact good rule, before the surgery, to obtain
the venous cartography using the Echo Doppler and the Echo-color Doppler.
In this way on the patient skin a detailed map of the sick venous is drawn,
focusing the surgery only on the sick regions. As the objective is that
to find the best treatment, it is necessary that the patients are examined
with the techniques above reported, even if these seem long and demanding.
To follow the above scheme is the best route for a stable success.
Physical therapy together with specific massages prescribed by specialists
represents an effective support in the treatment of various venous diseases
